Type it, and it styles itself

No preview pane, no toolbar hunting. Just write:

• Start a line with # for a heading
• Wrap words in **two stars** for bold. Italics, strikethrough, inline code and links work too
• Press Enter on a list and it keeps the list going
• Start a line with > and it becomes a quote
• Misspelled words get a red squiggle. Right-click one for suggestions

Your formatting appears as you type, so the page always looks like the finished document.

Equations without the hassle

Put dollar signs around math for an inline equation, like $e=m{c}^2$. Use two dollar signs to give an equation its own centered line:

Need more than that? Write a full LaTeX preamble (\documentclass, \usepackage{amsmath}, align environments, even colors) right inside your document.

Never get lost in a long paper

The scroll bar on the right has a little dot for every heading. Hover over one to see the section name, then click to jump straight there. Or press Ctrl + ↑ / Ctrl + ↓ to hop from heading to heading.

Hand it in looking professional

Save your work as plain markdown, or export it as a Word document or a rendered PDF. The PDF export is print-ready, LaTeX and all, so it's ideal for turning in assignments and reports.

• Hide the toolbar from the settings cog
• Change the background color, the font and the font color
• Go full screen for a distraction-free view. A word counter fades in at the bottom left, and you can hide that too
